University of Utah Library administration records 1952-1979 1971-1977

The George Thomas Library opened in 1935. The current Marriott Library opened in 1968. During the period covered by these records, Leonard H. Kirkpatrick (1941-1962), Ralph D. Thomson (1962-1971). Brigham D. Madsen (1971-1973), and Roger K. Hanson (1973-1995) served as Dean or Director of Libraries. This collection contains correspondence, reports, annual reports, newsletters, meeting minutes, and memoranda related to the administration of the George Thomas Library and principally of the Marriott Library. The collection includes records of the Marriott Library Auditorium Committee and the Council of Academic Deans. Also included are meeting minutes and correspondence of the Friends of the Library (1972-1977) and meeting minutes of the Utah College Library Council (1973-1978).
